The project
University of Basel is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic PhD student to pursue a project on the development of smart biomaterials to achieve therapeutic angiogenesis, in the framework of the EU-funded Marie Curie Initial Training Network “AngioMatTrain” (www.angiomattrain.eu). The candidate will combine state-of-the-art biomimetic hydrogel biomaterials and gene therapy to develop a novel approach for combinatorial delivery of angiogenic factors, in order to safely and effectively induce functional vascular growth.

Requirements and eligibility
Excellent communication skills, a passion for research and ability to work in a team are required. The candidate should hold an Honors Bachelor degree in Biology, Biotechnology or other Biomedical or Biological discipline. The candidate must not yet have been awarded a doctoral degree (PhD) and must have less than 4 years’ research experience. The applicant must not have spent more than 12 months in the country of the recruiting institution (Switzerland) in the 3 years prior to selection.
