At the University of Lausanne more than 130 research units are currently at work in a wide variety of disciplines ranging from Greek Numismatics to Cyber-marketing or Developmental Biology.
Within our institutes, laboratories and libraries, 2000 researchers, 500 of whom are professors, work daily on research projects of national or international importance, thereby adding to the fund of scientific knowledge of our university.
Working on the principle that knowledge transcends boundaries, collaboration between disciplines is now a priority in order to explore new fields of research and provide more pertinent answers to the questions posed by society. Many collaborative projects are at present under way, notably the science-society Interface, and programmes such as SVS (Science, Life and Society), IRIS (Social Integration, Regulation and Innovation), and Anthropos which examines the tendency for different fields of knowledge to overlap and the need to break down the barriers between different faculties.
