The MRC CNGG has 4-year PhD opportunities available from October 2014. This PhD scheme follows a 1+3 year structure, with the first year including background training in a broad range of topics and techniques from genetic epidemiology and gene mapping, epigenetics, bioinformatics, cellular and behavioural neuroscience and translational applications to human mental illness. There will also be brief placements with clinicians in order to observe clinics in the areas of neurodegeneration, psychosis & child development and research rotations in the laboratories of the 30 internationally recognised principal investigators of the Centre, and students are encouraged to undertake a range of projects within different groups
